In the world of Rapid climate change and the invasion of exotic insects and pests, sustainable way of gardening is more needed in this time.

To do more sustainable practice in your garden.Consider these suggestions and follow it for more better yields.

Look over the invasive plants and species

Invasive plants or Species is an introduced organism which causes harm to the environment. Monitor for invasive plants and take action before they become an even bigger problem.

Ways to avoid Invasive weeds:

  • For Tiny populations, hand-pulling will be effective, but be careful to avoid spreading seeds.

  • Mowing in late summer before the plants set seed can also be effective.

  • Girdling them ( cutting deeply into the bark around the trunk) will effectively kill them.

  • Young trees can be removed by hand digging, careful to keep the roots intact. Use pruning loppers to fell young trees

Home orchard care:

Orchards are Beneficial to healthy, diverse and resilient systems, Also reducing the impact on climate change and environmental degradation.

Orchards brings a nature environment into the urban ,which also can flourish in our schools, housing estates, improving human wellbeing and making our cities pleasant places to live.

Some areas of our cities have become ‘no grow zones’ or ‘food deserts Orchards offer a space to learn and a place for celebration of diversity, nourishing fruit and the trees that provide it.

Reduce water use through plant selection

Another way to be sustainable is to reduce the water usage in garden.

Special irrigation systems are often installed to decrease the amount of water applied or wasted. A better way is to use plants in the garden that are drought-tolerant

  • Aloe Plant (Aloe vera) needs water once or twice a month in the winter.

  • Sage has low watering requirements, and overwatering can kill the plant quickly.

  • Lavender is easy to grow and is quite drought-tolerant. It can also plant indoors to get refreshing fragrance

  • Bougainvillea is a champion in tolerating droughts. It is one of the plants that can grown in extreme hot and intense conditions.

  • Jade plant is an evergreen with thick branches. It can live for long time with no water.

These plants are also the low maintenance indoor plants to grow

  • Lavender repels fleas, moths, mosquitoes, and many other insects.placing close to a doorway to help prevent houseflies from entering.

  • Basil also repels mosquitoes and houseflies. Place basil in outdoor areas where you like to relax. You can also use it as natural repellent for insects .

  • Mint has the aromatic leaves, stems, and flowers of a mint plant repel mosquitoes.. If you'd like, you can even make a natural insect repellent by mixing mint oil with apple cider vinegar
